The Challenge : Transforming an Emerging Club into a WSL Benchmark

Joining the club in July 2024 during a period of major transition, my mission was to professionalise and propel London City Lionesses – a 100% independent club – towards the heights of the Women’s Super League (WSL). This challenge represented my first immersion into the British football ecosystem, requiring rapid cultural integration and an immediate operational response.

High-Level Collaboration : Delivering Michel Kang's Vision

Working under the leadership of Michele Kang was a defining opportunity. My mission was central to her global vision : transforming the status of the female athlete and professionalising the football ecosystem through unprecedented investment. My close working relationship with the owner, particularly during the launch phase, allowed me to align sporting objectives with a strategy of organisational excellence. This successful collaboration required a sophisticated understanding of governance issues and the ability to translate an owner’s ambition into concrete results on the pitch.

Strategic Leadership : Building a performance Culture

In an environment where everything had to be built from the ground up, I steered the club’s transformation across three fundamental pillars :

Institutional Structuring : Transitioning from amateur operations to elite standards by optimising all ressources dedicated to the first team.
Intercultural Management : Assembling and leading a multidisciplinary, international coaching staff with over six different nationalities. I established a shared working methodology, harmonising diverse footballing cultures to serve a single tactical project.
Player Capital Development : Implementing an ambitious post-formation policy. Under my management, 60% of the professional squad consisted of players under 22, some of whom reached senior international level (notably Freya Godfrey with England and Wassa Sangare with France).

Sporting Performance : A Meteoric Rise

The results achieved testify to the effectiveness of the methodology implemented :

Immediate Promotion : Gaining promotion to the WSL in the first season, driven by a remarkable unbeaten run over the final 13 matchdays (10 wins, 3 draws).
Stabilisation in the Elite : Upon the club’s return to the top flight, I secured early safety with 15 points in 9 matches – a statistical performance unseen in the league for a decade.
Competitiveness : In just 18 months, we closed the structural gap with the English « Big Four » (Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United), enabling the club to compete with the country’s top teams.

Adaptability & Vision : The "Game Changer" Expertise

Operating for the first time in England within an independent clube demanded total managerial agility. My ability to fully reconstruct a tactical project in the second season (integrating 17 new signings) while maintaining performance targets confirms my mastery of crisis management and long-term sporting planning.

In summary : A proven 18-month tenure that validates my capacity to lead a high-level international project, from clinching a title to consolidating a position in the top division.
