The JAFE Experience : Building a Culture of Excellence
From a Blank Page to a leading Youth Academy
Before entering the professional game, I dedicated nine years to a bold ambition : transposing the standards of elite structures (such as INF Clairefontaine) into the heart of community football. In 2008, I co-founded and managed the Juvisy Académie de Football de l’Essonne (JAFE).
More than just a club, JAFE served as a genuine laboratory for sports engineering, where I was able to test and validate my convictions regarding player development and management.
A vision : Elite Quality for Grassroots Football. My dual background as an engineer and a football coach allowed me to approach this project with a « quality assurance » mindset – a first in French amateur football.
The challenge was to move beyond traditional models to provide a framework where every detail matters
- A Specialist Academy : A strategic choice to focus solely on youth categories, ensuring that all resources were reinvested exclusively into player development.
- The « triple Project » : We placed the child’s development at the center, with equal demands across sporting, educational, and personal growth.
- Elite Methodology : Implementation of structured pedagogical engineering (annual planning, precise work cycles, statistical evaluation) for the U6 to U15 categories to deliver high-level training content. My approach was focused on delivering an enhanced « quality of service ».
Concrete Results and Impact
The success of JAFE was measured not just in trophies, but through structural performance indicators :
- Controlled Growth : Scaled from a few players to an institution of 350 members and 25 coaches, alongside a complete overhaul of the facilities.
- Exceptional Loyalty : A retention rate of over 90% across 9 seasons, testifying to the trust of the families and the high quality of the coaching staff.
- Knowledge Transfer : Competent staffing was essential. As a coach educator and mentor (UEFA-A tutor), I established an internal training culture that resulted in a near-perfect success rate for my coaches in their national coaching certifications.
How This Experience Benefits My Professional Coaching Profile
JAFE forged my DNA as a developer of talent. Today, whether I am launching young prospects at PSG or optimising the potential of international players in England, I rely on this ability to build and develop solid foundations within my squad.
This experience taught me that sustainable training quality does not happen by chance : it arises from a protective environment, meticulous organisation, and human management that places the individual at the heart of the technical project.
